It’s Sunday morning and today is Army Half Marathon in Singapore. I will be running the half marathon under Men’s Master category and my race number bib is 21031. At 2.30am I will be heading to Esplanade at Padang and will be arriving approx 3am by cab. I will start off by checking the Flex-Run Prosthetic leg and make sure all the screws are tighten and liners sock are in order. At 3.45am I will be doing a short run to loosen the blood circulation in my body and followed by warm up. The race for 21km Army Half Marathon will be flag-off at 5.15am.
Today I will be running for a cause to support and raise funds for Achmad Saufi Osman who met an accident last year near Simei ITE College where he is studying and now is suffering paralyses. I hope donors will come forward and give a hand on his medical expenses. Any payment do email to reen.taha@gmail.com Your contribution is much appreciated and Thank you. Noreen and the rest of my friends will also be running the 10km at 8am for the cause.
At 4.30am I will be at the front row with all my Kenyan’s runner friends. Last year in AHM I did about 3hrs using my first Flex-Run Prosthetic from Ossur and this year I am totally ready and going to beat my personal best timing. Before I start off my run, I will like to give some motivational tips to all the runners, Focus, believe in yourself, it’s not over till we win, never give up and make it happen! Keep hydrating... See you guys! I will be updating later.
During the flag off, I took 1 SIS gel and did not sprint but take it slow and easy all the way. The crowd and and runners been cheering and clapping me. While running alone, Md Sufian came from behind and tap me. We decided to run together and later meet up with Mohamad Zulkilfi Hanafi at ECP and they been pacing me all the way. Hey! I did not walk all the way been running and my Personal Trainer sure damn happy on the improvement that I've made, will informed her later after completing the run.
Near 16km OMG! my shoe sole came out and I had to think fast but with positive mindset and believe in myself I don't want to give up or walk but decided to run bare foot while Md Sufian will be right in front of me to watch if there are rock on the road while Zul been holding the shoe. I took the 2nd SIS gel. Our road surface is cool but not the F1 pit area where there are rocks been lying all around. Could feel the pain on the foot.
Near 200 meter to the finisher line we meet up with my other friends Jos and Yusri and we sprint all the way to the end. I clocked 2.37mins. Felt disappointed but did well. Anyway I must do below 2.30mins in upcoming Beijing International Marathon. Hey! good to run on bare foot:)
After collecting the medal all of us went to meet up with SIS Mr. Patrick at his booth.

YES! I had complete the run for the cause and later will be meeting with Noreen and her friend and we decided to go together to pay a visit to Achmad Saufi Osman.
At 10am, we reach at Saufi home and meet up with the mother and passed our finisher medal to him. The reason is we want him to be feel happy and recovery soon. I know he can do it but we need to give more moral support. OMG! his pampers and milk are low and I hope anyone do come out and give a hand to buy the items. May God bless you and your family always. Will be updating later.
Reach home around 2pm and saw there are big blister at my foot. Anyway I am so tired and need fully rest and decided not to go out for Hari Raya Celebration. Thank you everyone for supporting the run and been helping me lots. SBR sign off and Mission completed.
